Presentation

The suitable combination of the active ingredients of Dermocanis S Shampoo, allows an efficacious control of seborrhoeic skin in dogs, thus removing abnormal odor and scaling without irritating nor drying the skin.

Salicylic Acid:
A very efficacious keratolytic and keratoplastic agent. It is also very useful in hyperkeratotic dry skin conditions and apparently acts by both facilitating shedding and also by increasing water binding and hence the hydration of the stratum corneum. There is also some evidence to suggest that it has a direct anti-inflammatory and antipruritic action.
Sulphur:
This time-honoured remedy for many dermatological conditions, presents as major properties its keratolytic and keratoplastic effects. It is widely believed that there is synergism in these effects with salicylic acid. It also has some antipruritic activity.
Salix Alba extract:
Free from coal tar or its adulterants (polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and other non-safe components of tars), the use of Salix Alba Extract avoids the carcinogenic risk associated to classical coal tar preparations. Among its main features, it slows down the epidermal metabolism and proliferation, modifies the cohesiveness of desquamating cells, has antiseptic properties and possesses an anti-itching effect. It also provides a good foaming, better appearance and a softer odour, when compared with common coal tar.

The synergistic action of these compounds softens and removes the altered corneous layer, allowing an orderly growth of cells in the basal layer and regulating their subsequent keratinization.

Dosage and Administration

Frequency of bathing depends on the degree of the condition and on veterinarian instructions.
In general, it is advisable to start with frequent bathing, twice or three times per week, and then reduce the frquency as the condition is being controlled.
In primary seborrhoeas, this shampoo should be used at regular intervals so as to keep canine skin in an optimum state.

Shake bottle well before use.
Brush the dog's hair prior to bathing in order to eliminate scales and debris.
Wet the dog's hair with warm water.
Apply shampoo abundantly, depending on hair thickness and animal size, in different body areas.
Distribute all over the body gentry massaging or brushing to facilitate penetration.
Wait for aimum of 3 - 5 minutes.
Rinse thoroughly with water until there are no signs of foam.

Contra-Indications, Warnings, etc.

It is advisable to keep hair short in dogs with abundant scaling in order to easily control the condition. People allergic to salicylic acid should wear protective gloves during application of the product.
Seborrhoea may appear secondarily to other diseases such as:

ectoparasites, pyoderma, dermatophytosis, endocrinopathies, nutritional imbalances or allergies

which must be controlled to obtain a thorough resolution.

Store at room temperature and away from direct sunlight.
Keep out of the reach of children.
If accidental eye contact occurs, flush eyes immediately with water.
Do not use on cats.
